This man’s life did not start well. Jabez was born in pain and that is what his name means—pain. However, he did not allow that to define him. His ONE request to God was open to God’s definition.

“Bless me.” Our knowing and all-powerful God knew what blessings Jabez needed to fulfill his life and God’s purpose. God knows best what blessings you need to fulfill your life and His purpose!

Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, and that Your hand might be with me and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” And God granted him what he requested.

Jabez didn’t confine God by being very specific in his request… he opened his heart to whatever way God might choose to bless him and expand his territory. God granted his request because of his faith and his pure motive. God is able to do far more than we can ask or think. Eph 3:20

Are you willing to ask God to bless you in whatever way He sees will fulfill your life and your purpose for Him?
