Walking Dead – Roamers

When we give God the first day of our week we honor him and allow him the opportunity to bless us and touch our lives through worship. He wants to speak to you; He wants you to talk to Him; He wants you to share with others in fellowship with Him. These things often take place in church, in worship. Having a solid connection with the church of Jesus Christ, the family of faith, keeps us from aimless roaming without direction or purpose.

Scriptures

John 10:10; Hebrews 10:25; Luke 4:16

Verse

Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.  Hebrews 10:25

Thought

Many people roam and lose direction then they come to church, and just when they seem to get a little bit of clarity and sure footing, off they go, roaming again like a zombie without a clue. This cycle is often repeated over and over. The roamer seems never to realize that there is a correlation between giving God the first day of the week, the Sabbath, and finding direction and hope for life.

Questions

Are you giving God the first day of your week? Are you open to God’s voice? Are you regularly in a place (church) where he can speak through his Word, whether that be the music, the message or through other Christians who share with you in worship?

Response

Stop roaming! Commit the first day of each week to God. Be in worship every Sunday. Come with a mind and heart open to what God wants to do in and through you.

Prayer

Dear God, I do not want to roam through life and miss the opportunity to experience fulfillment as you designed. I give myself to you! I give you the first day of my week in obedience to you and as a sacrifice of praise and worship to you. Allow me to be touched and blessed by you, and help me to bless others as I faithfully put you first in my week and honor your day. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
