If Satan can’t keep you from becoming a Christian, his next plan is to lull you to sleep so that you pose no threat to his mission here on Earth. Unfortunately there are many Christians who are sleeping and don’t know it. They are snug and comfy. They may be going through the motions and doing some of the “Christian” things, but they are not putting God first in every area of their lives. If you do not have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and are not sowing seed that will produce a harvest for God’s Kingdom, then you are sleeping and missing out on God’s best for you!

Verses
This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Eph 5:14-17)

Thought
God calls Christians to put Him first in everything. When we put God first in the way we use our time, talent, abilities and resources, we will reap a rich harvest of blessings. This is the principle of sowing and reaping. The principle can unfold with a harvest of good or bad for the sower, depending on what is sown. Don’t be misled; remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it: a person will always reap just the kind of crop they sow! (Gal 6:7)

Questions
Are you putting God first with your time? Is Sunday worship a priority? If you have kids, are you making sure they are in church? Do you make time each day for Bible reading and prayer? Are you serving in your local church? Are you using your ability and talent for God first? Are you giving 10% of your income to your church? Do you feel you are now reaping what you’ve sown in the past? If so, how does that feel?

Response
Examine your use of your time, talent, abilities and resources over the past week, month, year. Make the needed changes so that you sow to those things that have eternal value! Look forward to reaping the harvest from a life that puts God first in all things!

Prayer
All that I am and all that I have comes from you, Lord! Wake me up! Lead me and use me to sow seeds with eternal value! I want to put you first in every area of my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
