Soul’d Out – Share

The mission of Christ’s church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Before Jesus’ ascension, he left the disciples with these words, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” (Mk 16:15) Throughout the Scriptures we see the passion and the urgency of the disciples’ ministry to do as Christ commanded them. The Apostle Paul shared the good news of Jesus whether he was in prison or out of prison. He spent his life traveling and preaching in order to reach everyone he could for Christ. Every person eventually comes to a place where they recognize their own mortality, and realize that we will all die. In light of eternity, the most important thing any Christian can do is to share Jesus Christ with everyone who crosses their path.

Scriptures
2 Kings 7:5-7, 9; Mark 16:15; Luke 19:10; John 3:16; Phil 1:21; Col 4:3-4; Titus 3:5;

Verse
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.”
(Mk 16:15)

Thought
In order to obey Christ and share the good news, we must prepare. The first thing is to pray. Tell God that you are willing to be used by Him. Ask Him to open doors of opportunity for you to share His love. Read your Bible; build a close relationship with Jesus. Next, you must pay attention. Be sensitive to those around you and to their needs. God will create opportunities, but you must be waiting and watching for those open doors. Seize the moment, but not in an overbearing or obnoxious way. Let people know you care; listen to them; invite them to church. Don’t be afraid that they will ask you questions you can’t answer. They probably will. The one thing you know best is your own story. You can share about who you were before you accepted Christ. Explain how your relationship with Jesus has made a difference in your life and what you’ve learned. You know the reality of God in your own life; be prepared to let others know what a difference knowing Jesus has made to you.

Questions
Where is your circle of influence? Do you look for opportunities to share your faith? If “yes” give some examples. Are you afraid you’ll be asked a question you can’t answer? How should you respond if that happens? How is Christianity different from other religions? Can you answer the previous question using the “do” and “done” example? What example do you feel is most clear and concise for a non-believer? What unanswered question do you have about Christianity? Take turns sharing your story—who you were before you accepted Christ, how you came to know Jesus, and the difference it’s made in your life.

Response
Write out your personal testimony. Pray for ways to share with others and pay attention to God’s voice; follow his prompting. Keep a journal of the opportunities God gives you, how you respond to God’s prompting, and how receptive the person is to what you share.

Prayer
Dear God, use me to share the good news of Jesus with others. Open doors of opportunity and make me sensitive to your Spirit’s leading. Impress upon my mind, heart and soul the importance of what you have called me to do. May I fulfill your command and proclaim your salvation to whoever crosses my path wherever I go. Thank you for saving me and for the relationship I have with Jesus. In His Name I pray, Amen.
