Life – Take My Life

Many of us want something in our life that we can’t get by our own skill, power or ability. We can’t get it by our finances or by our wisdom. No, what we want is what only God can give and to this point in our lives He hasn’t provided it for us.

Scriptures
Isaiah 30:13; 40:30-31; 49:23; 64:4; Romans 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 6:1-2; Colossians 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 6:15, 12:1 James 5:10-11

Verse
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:30-31 ESV

Thought
Most of us have tried a little manipulation with God and we pray and say things like, “God, I’ll do anything. I’ll go to church. I’ll pray more. I’ll read the Bible.” You can fill in the blank on what you may have said to God when you were waiting on Him. If God could create the world in six days, why do we have to wait six months or six years or more to get what we want from God? It could be a new job or the right person to marry. Maybe it’s your family finances that need help or a wayward son or daughter who are continually in your prayers. Why do we have to wait?

Questions
Why is it so hard to wait on God? What are you presently waiting on God to do for you or your family? Someone has said, “We have to wait because of what waiting does to us.” Do you think that’s a true statement and if so why? Why do people lose their trust in God when they’re waiting on Him? Do you think people who have a lot of faith spend less time waiting on God?

Response
Don’t forget that, from the earliest recorded Biblical history, people who loved and followed God have waited on Him to move in their lives. Determine that while you wait on God you will remember these three things: 1) Waiting on God renews your emotional and spiritual strength. 2) Waiting on God refines your character. 3) Waiting on God refocuses your purpose in life.

Prayer
Dear Lord God, help me to trust you as I wait for you to move on my behalf. Empower me by your Holy Spirit to stand against the lie of the enemy that says there’s something wrong with me because of my time of waiting on you. Please give me a heart that wants what you want for me more than what I want for me. I pray in Jesus name, Amen.
