Let there be Peace – Ambassadors of Peace

Scriptures
1 Peter 3:13-16; Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; John 14:6

Verse
Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 1 Peter 3:13-16

Thought
Button pushers – those individuals in your life who know just what to say or do to make you angry or frustrated. The truth is sometimes we push the buttons of others. But we are called to be ambassadors for Christ in this world. We are called to share a message of peace about the Prince of Peace with a world desperately in need of peace. To do that we must make sure our message has not been negatively affected by the messenger. We are to be prepared to share the hope that we have but in an attitude of gentleness and respect.

Questions
Which person in your life seems to push your buttons the most? Whose buttons do you seem to push the most? How are you doing when it comes to being an ambassador for Christ? Do you present a message of hope and peace? Is Christ place in your heart and life solid or a bit shaky? How do you respond to others who believe differently than you? Does your representation of Christ bring more heat or more light?

Response
Since all of us are broken human beings it’s difficult at times to be the peace filled ambassador that God wants us to be. That’s why it’s so important to keep a humble heart and ask God to fill you with his peace that passes all understanding.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, give me the strength to be the ambassador for Christ that you want me to be. Help me to have a firm resolve in my heart to set apart Christ as Lord. Let me respond with a gentle spirit as I share the good news with others and may I have a humble heart as I live my life for you. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
