The world is noisy. We are barraged with echoes from society, friends, media and more. It’s easy to be overwhelmed and confused by all the input! And, have you ever thought about what your echo is contributing to those around you? What you listen to will be what you echo, and ultimately it will determine who you become. Though we can’t control the noise, we can control what echoes inside our minds and hearts. We can listen as God echoes guidance, comfort and companionship through His Holy Spirit.

Verses
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. (Jn 14:16-18) For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. (Rm 8:14)

Thought
In John 16:7 Jesus tells the disciples that it’s for their good that he goes away so the Holy Spirit can come. They could not imagine how that could be true. But when the day of Pentecost arrived, they received the Holy Spirit and understood what Jesus had told them. When we accept Jesus Christ as savior, we receive God’s Spirit. How much we allow the Spirit to lead and direct our lives is up to us. God desires that we walk with him day by day, hour by hour; and the Spirit echoes God’s words and communicates with us when we are living in an awareness of his constant presence. Over time we grow in faith and are enabled to know the secrets of God and have the mind of Christ.

Are you listening for the Holy Spirit’s echo? Have you ever known that God was leading you to do something that your friends advised you not to do? What did you do? Has there been a time when God’s leading resulted in some pain and sorrow? When has the Holy Spirit saved you from pain?

Help me Lord to hear your Holy Spirit. I want to know your will and direction for my life. I want to walk with you daily, hearing your echo of wisdom and love in my life. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
