Daniel is a shining example of faithfulness throughout his life, no matter the circumstance, no matter the consequence. He stood strong for God in a society that didn’t know or understand his faith. He stood strong in the face of persecution. Daniel experienced many visions and dreams in his later years. These often left him frightened and confused about the future; however, he was assured that God’s people will prevail in the end and that he will receive the inheritance God has in store for him.

Verses
I heard what he said, but I did not understand what he meant. So I asked, “How will all this finally end, my lord?” But he said, “Go now, Daniel, for what I have said is kept secret and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means.” (Dan 12:8-10) ”As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days, you will rise again to receive the inheritance set aside for you.” (Dan 12:13)

Thought
It is hard for those of us who have always experienced freedom of religion to comprehend the religious persecution Daniel endured and countless others through the centuries. During the early days of the church Christians were persecuted for their faith, and today many across the globe are imprisoned and killed for faith that refuses to violate the laws of a Holy God. The times continue to change, and we cannot know what the future holds, as our nation turns from the values and beliefs upon which it was founded. Christianity is seen with less and less favor in our society. God’s word says we will face trials, be they spiritual or physical, but it also says we can rest assured that God has the future firmly in his control. He will prevail and His kingdom will never end!
